“I liked that, what she said, ‘See what you can see,’” Uncle Archie said as we walked back to the car.

“What exactly does she mean?” I asked.

“I think she wants us to pay attention a little more carefully to what’s going on around us. What do you think?”

That sounded about right.

We took a left at the stop sign instead of a right that would have taken us straight home.

“Where we going now,” I asked.

Uncle Archie had one of those mischievous grins cracking across his face.

“Didn’t Aunt Betty suggest taking up a new hobby?”

She had.

“I thought we’d stop by the mall and check out a shoe store or two. Long as you don’t tell your momma.”
